Before you download
How does Zack KI work with the programs I already use?
You select text or pick files in File Explorer, then press your shortcut — Alt+1 out of the box. With nothing selected, the screen capture tool opens instead. Zack KI picks up that content from almost any program, and one button writes the answer back where your selection was.
Why use Zack KI when I already have ChatGPT in my browser?
Zack KI is faster. In a browser you copy text out of your document, switch windows, paste, copy the answer and switch back. Zack KI sits on top of the program you are already working in.
What can I use on the Zack Free plan?
You get 500 credits to start with and 100 more each week. That covers Quick mode. Deep and web search are not part of it — those need Zack Basic or Zack Pro.
What is the difference between Quick and Deep?
Quick answers fast and suits short questions, rewrites, summaries and straightforward research on the web. Deep takes more time when accuracy and quality matter, and uses more credits in return.
What happens to the text I send?
Your chats stay stored on your PC, and our servers in Germany do not store your request. There is more on this in the privacy policy.
Will Zack KI run on my computer?
Zack KI runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. There is no version for macOS or Linux yet.
Everyday use
Which files can I hand over to Zack KI?
Just about any file type: PDFs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, OpenOffice files, images such as PNG, JPG, WEBP or HEIC, and text and code files of any kind.
What if Alt+1 is already taken on my machine?
Set a different shortcut in the settings. And clicking the icon in the taskbar opens Zack KI exactly as if you had pressed the shortcut.
Does Zack KI run in the background all the time and slow my PC down?
It waits as an icon in the taskbar and uses practically no processing power while it does. You can quit it anytime from that same icon.
Pricing, credits and cancellation
What are credits?
Credits are your balance for asking questions. A short question costs a few, a thorough answer with Deep costs more. When the balance is empty you can wait for the next week or buy a credit pack.
What happens to credits I do not use?
The weekly allowance is set anew each week and does not carry over. The 500 starting credits and any credit pack you buy are exempt from that: they stay valid for 12 months.
Can I change my plan?
Yes, you can switch at any time. The billing period starts again on the day you switch.
How do I cancel?
Through the cancellation form on this website or by email to hello@zack-ki.com. You do not have to sign in for the form; your email address is needed to match and confirm the cancellation. Your plan then keeps running until the end of the period you have paid for. During the first 14 days your right of withdrawal applies as well.
Who takes the payment and who issues the invoice?
Payment and invoicing are handled for us by Paddle, our payment provider. That is why your bank statement shows Paddle rather than Zack KI, and the invoice arrives by email. Prices on the website are final prices including VAT.
Can I use my own API key?
Yes. With your own key, Zack KI stays free to use and consumes no credits; usage is billed to you directly by whoever issued the API key.
Can I use Zack KI for work?
Yes. The plans are cut for individual users, though — each workstation needs its own account.
Privacy and security
Who gets to see my question, and where are the servers?
Our servers are in Germany. Your chats stay on your PC; we do not store them. Which services take part in producing an answer, and what they store themselves, is set out in the privacy policy.
What happens to a screen capture?
The capture is sent for that one question and not kept afterwards. On your PC it lasts as long as the chat does — delete the chat and the image goes with it.
Why is there no password when I sign in?
You get a sign-in link by email, or you sign in with Google, so there is no password that could be stolen. You need an account on the Zack Free plan too, because your free credit balance is tied to it.
Does the app send error reports?
No, not by default. If you run into a problem, you can switch diagnostics on in the settings. We then receive technical reports without any of your chat content and can look into it.
How do I delete my account?
At the bottom of Account you can export your server data or permanently delete the account after a final confirmation. An active subscription must be ended first. Local chats stay on your computer; for help contact hello@zack-ki.com.
Installing and technical questions
Why does Windows show a warning when I install it?
Because Zack KI is brand new; the warning says nothing about whether the file is safe. Click More info, then Run anyway. See what the message looks like.
How do updates reach me?
If you download Zack KI directly from this website, it updates itself. If you installed it from the Microsoft Store, updates arrive through the Store.
How do I uninstall Zack KI?
Through Windows Settings → Apps → Zack KI → Uninstall. Your local chat history is removed along with it.
