In short
Click “Insert” on the text block in Zack KI’s answer. Zack KI puts the text into the app you used last, in place of your selection there, or at the cursor if nothing is selected. Your clipboard is restored afterwards. Answers without a block are copied with “Copy answer” instead.
- Goes into
- The app you used last before Zack KI
- Position
- Replaces the selection there, otherwise at the cursor
- Has “Insert”
- Text and code blocks in an answer
- Without a text field
- The text is copied for you to paste with Ctrl+V
Step by step
- Select the text you want to replace and press Alt+1, or click where new text should go and press Alt+2.
- Ask for the text, for example “Turn this into three short bullet points”.
- Wait until the answer is complete. Text meant for reuse appears in a block with a copy icon and an “Insert” button.
- To change a word first, click into the block and edit it. Press Esc when you are done.
- Click “Insert”. The text lands in your app, and the button briefly shows “Inserted”.
Which answers have an “Insert” button?
Every text block and code block in an answer has a copy icon (“Copy code”) and “Insert”. Rewrites, corrections and translations come as such a block, one block per version you asked for. When you click the “Improve” or “Fix errors” chip on a selection, the result is always a block.
Ordinary answers, summaries and explanations are normal text without a block. Point at the answer and click “Copy answer” below it; it copies the whole answer as plain text, without formatting characters. Short code inside a sentence, such as a command, is copied when you click it.
Where exactly does the text go?
Into the window you used last before switching to Zack KI. If text is selected there, the inserted text replaces it; if not, it goes in at the cursor. So you can select a sentence in Word, ask Zack KI for a better version and replace the sentence with one click. To insert somewhere else, click into that spot first, then click “Insert”.
Zack KI pastes the text and then puts your clipboard back. A block with headings, bold or lists arrives formatted in apps that accept formatted text, such as Word or Outlook; other apps receive plain text. Code is inserted exactly as written.
Insert needs a place where you could type. On the desktop or in an Explorer window, Zack KI copies the text instead and says “No text field found. The text was copied. Paste it with Ctrl+V.” Apps running as administrator get the same fallback.
What if the text doesn’t arrive?
Some programs ignore the usual paste shortcut. Terminal windows such as PuTTY get Shift+Insert automatically. If text still doesn’t arrive in one app, open “Settings” → “Advanced” → “System and startup” and change “Insertion method” from “Automatic” to “Ctrl+Shift+V”, “Shift+Insert” or “Type directly”. The setting also applies to Alt+3 and Alt+4.
“Adapt to surrounding text” in the same place adjusts spaces and capitalization where plain inserted text meets the text around it, for example when you insert a phrase in the middle of a sentence.

Can I change the answer before inserting it?
Yes. Click into the text or code block and edit it; “Insert” and the copy icon then use your version. The chat itself keeps the original answer.
Does Insert overwrite my clipboard?
No. Zack KI restores the previous clipboard after inserting. Only when there is no text field does it leave the text on the clipboard for you to paste.
Does it work in my browser, for example in Gmail?
Yes. Click into the text field on the web page, switch to Zack KI and click “Insert”.
