What is sent when I ask a question?
Zack KI reads a selection or your screen only when you press Alt+1, and sends nothing until you send the question. Then it sends:
- Your question and your custom instructions.
- The text, files or screenshot attached to the question.
- Recent messages of the same chat, so the AI understands follow-ups.
- For a web search: search terms and a short description of what is being looked for, not your attachments.
- For the automatic chat title: the first question and the beginning of the answer.
This goes through the Zack service to the model provider. Which services take part and what they store themselves is listed in the privacy policy.
How do I keep things out of a question?
After Alt+1, the captured text, files or screenshot appear as attachments in the input area, and nothing has been sent yet. Check them and remove anything that does not belong with “Remove context”.
If Alt+1 should not pick up certain content, turn off “Use selected text”, “Use selected files” or “Capture screen if nothing is selected” under “Settings” → “General” → “Context capture”. Alt+2 always opens an empty chat.
How long are chats kept, and how do I delete them?
Chats and their attachments are stored in the Zack KI app data on your PC. You decide how long:
- “Settings” → “Advanced” → “History” → “Keep chats for”: 7, 30 or 60 days or no limit, counted from the last use of a chat. The default is 30 days.
- Turn off “Save chats”, and new chats are not kept.
- Right-click a chat in the chat list and choose “Delete chat”.
- “Settings” → “Advanced” → “Maintenance” → “Reset all data” deletes all chats, API keys and settings for good and signs you out.

What do diagnostics and problem reports send?
“Send diagnostic data” under “Settings” → “Advanced” → “Maintenance” is off by default. If you turn it on, Zack KI sends technical reports without any of your chat content.
If you flag a chat with “Report chat” in the title bar, Zack Software receives your account, the time and the model. The chat itself is included only if you tick “Include the chat history”.
Reminder emails are sent only if you tick “I allow Zack Software to send occasional reminder emails.” when you sign in.
How do I export or delete my account?
Open “Settings” → “Account” → “Your account data”. “Export account data” saves the data stored on the server about your account and usage to your Downloads folder. Local chats are not part of it, because they never reach the server.
“Delete account” removes your account, credits and operational data after a final confirmation. An active subscription must be ended first. Local chats stay on this computer.

Does the AI provider see my files?
Yes. Files and screenshots you send with a question go to the model provider so it can answer. Do not attach content you may not share with an outside service.
What changes with my own API key?
Your questions go to the provider you set up yourself, under that provider’s terms. Your chats are still saved only on your PC.
Does uninstalling delete my chats?
Uninstalling does not guarantee that all user data is removed. Delete your chats or use “Reset all data” in the app first.
