- Press Alt+3 if the text should read more clearly, or Alt+4 if only spelling, grammar and punctuation should be corrected. A small bar at the top of the screen shows that Zack KI is working; Esc cancels.
- Zack KI replaces the selection with the revised version. Read it through before you send the message.
What is the difference between Improve and Fix errors?
Both are available as a shortcut and as a chip in the Zack KI window. They differ in how much they change your text. Two more chips answer about the text instead of changing it:
| Action | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Improve (Alt+3) | Makes the text clearer with as few changes as useful. Language, meaning, tone, names and numbers stay. | Awkward sentences, emails that should read more clearly |
| Fix errors (Alt+4) | Corrects spelling, punctuation and clear grammar errors and keeps your wording, sentence order and style. | Texts that are finished in content and style |
| Summarize (chip) | Gives the main points of the text as an overview. | Long emails, reports and minutes |
| Explain (chip) | Says what the text means, including terms and background. | Contracts, technical texts and error messages |
You use “Summarize” and “Explain” in the Zack KI window after pressing Alt+1. Their answer appears there, and “Copy answer” copies it with one click. More in Rewrite text with AI, AI grammar check and Summarize text with AI.
Can I decide how Zack KI reworks my text?
Yes. Under “Settings” → “Chips” you can rename the four chips and give them your own instructions, for example a formal tone for customer emails. See Custom AI actions. Your “Custom instructions” in the settings apply to questions you ask in the chat, not to the chips on selected text.
If you prefer to ask in your own words, press Alt+1 and type your request, for example “Make this friendlier and shorter”. The result comes as a text block, and “Insert” puts it in place of your selection.
Where are the limits?
Zack KI takes selected text from Outlook, Word, your browser and almost any other Windows app. It can only replace text where you could edit it yourself; elsewhere it copies the result for you to paste with Ctrl+V.
The revision comes from an AI model and can contain mistakes. The selected text goes to the model provider, see what happens to your data.
Related questions
Do I have to copy the text first?
No. You only select the text. Zack KI takes the selection and puts the result back in the same place.
Can I change the shortcuts?
Yes. You can reassign every shortcut under “Settings” → “Shortcuts”, for example if Alt+3 is already taken in one of your apps. See AI assistant on a keyboard shortcut.
Does my text stay in its language?
Yes. “Improve” and “Fix errors” keep the language of your text, so an English email is revised, not translated.
